He has no mental defenses. However, he is himself a mental/psychic parasite who feeds off of others' energy. He is capable of overriding other people's free will and controlling them, but he mostly won't, because he is trying to be nice.

In addition to the above, he can also pick things up and move them around magically, and make webs or bind people with his string. He has generic dark magic. He can make flowers and plants grow more quickly by infusing them with energy. Probably other stuff.
